Shalimar
Shalimar, an industrial city in the West Bengali state of Howrah, is well-known for containing the Howrah Bridge. It is referred to as Kolkata’s twin city and is situated on the banks of the lovely Hooghly River. Howrah Bridge, Vidyasagar Setu, Vivekanand Setu, and Nivedita Setu are the four bridges that connect Howrah to Kolkata. India’s Eastern and South Eastern Railway Zones both have terminals at Howrah Station. Shalimar, Kolkata, and other nearby regions’ requirements are served by Howrah Station, which is a significant rail hub. Due to its affiliation with the Kolkata Suburban Railway, it has excellent access to several stations in Howrah, Bardhman, East Midnapore, and West Midnapore through suburban trains.
The South Eastern Railway Network has six additional stations: Tikiapara, Dasnagar, Santragachhi, Ramrajatala, Padmapukur, and Shalimar Station. The city also offers excellent connectivity thanks to a robust road network. Via the Kona Motorway, Vidyasagar Setu is well connected to the NH-2 and NH-6 national roads. The Kona Motorway, which is a component of the Golden Quadrilateral Project, links Kolkata to NH-2. The district’s Nibra town is where the motorway connects to NH-6 as well. The Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Botanical Garden, where the renowned Great Banyan Tree rises tall with its full grandeur, serves as the terminus of the fabled Grand Trunk Road.
